The Childcare Illusion – contd.

It is April 1st, April Fool’s Day, and the new Childcare entitlement for 2 year olds’ is meant to be implemented today. But look around you – has it arrived as announced? It may well not affect you directly but look up and down the street, if you have children then look at them. Did it happen?

There is no need to write the answer on the back of a postcard because most of us know the answer without even having to think about it. There will be many more failures than the odd success. Yet another Tory policy failure!

And on September 1st there will be yet another milestone to measure the “success” of this policy against. Just remember this should you have that rarity of a Tory canvasser!

Figures from the House of Commons Library, reveal that NO constituency has enough childcare places to deliver this Tory “announcement” – exactly as predicted on the Bexhill and Battle Lib Dems’ website 8 months ago!

In fact the situation is even worse than that – only 32 of the 533 constituencies in England are in a position to deliver even HALF of what is required!

Given the impartial source for these figures – the House of Commons Library – how can you trust anything that this Government “announces “?
