Another Perspective - Ticehurst Talk
Flimwell Park - The creation of an uncommon project in an uncommon place using uncommon techniques during uncommon times
Flimwell Park is a pioneering new mixed-use woodland centre set amongst 46 acres of broadleaved, coppiced woodland, in the heart of the beautiful East Sussex countryside.
Flimwell Park was established to try to rejuvenate an unmanaged but rare and precious woodland in the middle of Flimwell. The aim was to build a new rural place that would be open for public use while providing accommodation, workspace and education for the community and beyond. The woodland is in need of a lot of work to help bring it into the 21st century as a sustainable, biodiverse, and resilient working woodland full of life and usable materials, as it has provided over many centuries. To help this happen, a new way of thinking about the land was required and this talk will explain the whats and whys of this project, as well as the hopes for its future.
